I don't know if can help to solve the problem, but on the ubuntu bug track
system i found a bug that covered the same problem in june.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/594885.
The focus was on the setting CONFIG_PM_DISABLE_CONSOLE.

In this thread ubuntu kernel team drop this patch from the kernel build, but
now we suffer the same problem...
