Brief description of the hardware that I have here.

Hi.

As per Zhang Rui's request in comment #87 of bug #11717, I am filing this bug.
Here is my original description:

Some extra notes: I got this notebook in 2008-07, and the problems that I am
seeing date back from at least version 2.6.24, from what I can remember.

I am attaching some extra data about this notebook so that this bug report is
self contained.
