[Foomatic] Foomatic-rip possibly confusing Ghostscript

Dear Sirs,

I had posted this message in the 'general' forum, but now I feel this one is
more appropriate. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I didn't give up yet from using foomatic stuff (without the database) in our
old HPPA-9000 D210 machine (HP-UX 10.20) with GS/GIMP-PRINT/HPIJS and no
spooler. It's much more interesting than my current solution (a poor 'rip' of
my own.)

Ufortunately I can't print some EPS files, including the famous GS's
'tiger.eps'. Connect can be 'file', 'smb', 'socket'. Printers tested were HP
LaserJet 4, HP LaserJet 1200, Epson FX-2180. Drivers were HPIJS, PXLMONO,
EPSONC. Obviously it's impossible to print some postscript text with those EPS
files embedded.

I have no problem callind 'gs' directly with the command line provided by
foomatic-rip.

I could print a 10436-byte EPS file, but neither its 33394-byte version (a
richer image) nor a text with it embedded (20138 bytes.) 'tiger.eps' has 78599
bytes. Because of this, I thought that the size could be the problem, but I
could process and print a 324069-byte long pure postscript text.

Is someone aware about this problem? Any solution? See more data at the bottom.

Thanks for your attention.

Henrique
