[Accessibility] PROPOSAL: Accessible Document

I think we are in agreement that it would be useful to have a gap
analysis.   It would be interesting to learn about the accessibility and
DOM API similarities and differences among Linux, Mac, and Windows,
because multi-platform applications like browsers and word processors
need to implement these interfaces for porting and/or interoperability.

Today, applications and assistive technologies are using a combination
of DOMs, accessibility APIs, native platform APIs, and hardcoded
heuristics to provide an accessible user interface.  To achieve
portability and interoperability, applications need to be able to
implement a cross platform API like a DOM interface that can connect to
platform-specific accessibility APIs (such as ATK, MSAA, Mac);
therefore, it would be useful to establish consensus at this level.
