Yes, I agree to "apps rely on Qt5", but I think that automotive/platform services
should not rely on Qt5.

Sorry for the inconvenience, there are discussions about layer design in May and June 2015,
some of them in mailing list and some are done in f2f-meeting or web conference.

I attach latest slides which I wrote down the layer design disscuessed in layer design team.
Maybe someone should summirize the design and post it to AGL wiki.

Please check slide 5-7, I wrote design of meta-agl/meta-agl-demo there.

Our design is,
meta-agl : minimal / baseline system of AGL Distro, which is not for IVI only, it will
be baseline for other profiles in the future.

meta-agl-demo : this is for AGL Demo platform which includes application frameworks and
   HMI applications in IVI profile.

Also we should think differences with layer stack of AGL based products and
open source reference/demo platform (agl-demo-platform/genivi-demo-platform).

AGL Demo Platform
    - meta-agl-demo (agl distro, includes Demo apps and apps framework)
    - meta-qt5 (UI framework)
    - meta-agl (baseline)
    - meta-ivi-common
    - meta-bsp (if needed)
    - meta-oe/oe-core(poky)

OEM/Tier1 specific platfrom/product (example)
    - meta-oem-distro (e.g. UI/HMI apps)
    - meta-oem-middleware (e.g. UI/HMI framework)
    - meta-agl (baseline)
    - meta-ivi-common
    - meta-bsp (if needed)
    - meta-oe/oe-core(poky)

And there is license issue about Qt5.4 and later, it is not completely open source software.
Especially when using in product, maybe not all OEM/Tier1 can use Qt unconditionally.
So dependency to Qt is to be closed the area of UI, it should not expand to
all area of automotive.

Based on these, meta-qt5 between meta-agl-demo and meta-agl is better than
meta-qt5 is under meta-agl for AGL Distro v1.0 so far.

Tadao Tanikawa
