Scott, maybe also check out: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Segwit_support <https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Segwit_support> and see which core developer / contributors are supporting b2x (spoiler: none).

So you are probably right, that the newspeak that segwit2x IS bitcoin, is not as true as some mailing list members here want to it to be.
