You need to use dhcp on the bridge interface.

# brctl addbr br0
# ifconfig eth0    # mark up with no address
# ifconfig eth1
# brctl setfd br0 0        # turn off forwarding delay
# brctl addif br0 eth0 eth1
# dhclient br0
