I cannot boot using your lastest patch. Early in the boot process (before
mounting root fs) I get an infinite loop of "hpet_next_event: now: %ld  then:
%ld delta: %ld" with increasing values ;  I have to do an hard reset to
shutdown the computer.

It might be as cnt2 is always > cnt
