Summary: No Driver for Ralink RT2860 Wireless interface, the
source is available on their website
Product: Networking
Version: 2.5
KernelVersion: 2.6.24.5
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Tree: Mainline
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P1
Component: Wireless
AssignedTo: networking_wireless at kernel-bugs.osdl.org
ReportedBy: BrunoXLambert at gmail.com
Latest working kernel version: never
Earliest failing kernel version: all
Distribution: all, currently Slackware 12.1.
Hardware Environment: my laptop, a LG r405 with that wireless card (RT2860)
Software Environment: Linux
Problem Description: Can't use wireless, need to boot in Windows Vista, wish is
painfully slow, ugly and, mostly, not fun to use.
Steps to reproduce: Boot into linux.
The driver is available on their website:
http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Linux.html
http://www.ralinktech.com.tw/data/drivers/2008_0325_RT2860_Linux_STA_v1.6.1.0.tar.bz2
. I don't know the license issue with that, but I know that the driver compile
and work on 2.6.24 (well, need firmware, but that's like with the intel ipw2200
etc...). It would be great to have it directly in the kernel.
Thank you,
-Bruno Lambert
