Summary: Multicast requires promisc flag in ifconfig to work
                    properly on atl1 chipset
           Product: Drivers
           Version: 2.5
     KernelVersion: 2.6.27-9-generic
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
              Tree: Mainline
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P1
         Component: Network
        AssignedTo: jgarzik at pobox.com
        ReportedBy: seivadmas at gmail.com

Latest working kernel version: ?
Earliest failing kernel version: ?

Distribution: Ubuntu 8.10

Hardware Environment:
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Attansic Technology Corp. L1 Gigabit Ethernet
Adapter (rev b0)
Motherboard: ASUS P5QL PRO iP43

Problem Description:
Avahi (and probably all other multicast applications) doesn't work correctly
unless PROMISC flag is set on device.

Steps to reproduce:
Try resolving the hostname of the atl1 nic from another pc using avahi. It will
work sporadically at best. When promisc is enabled, it works perfectly.
