Summary: "Assuming drive cache: write through" messages
probably have wrong loglevel
Product: IO/Storage
Version: 2.5
Kernel Version: 2.6.34.1
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Tree: Mainline
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P1
Component: Serial ATA
AssignedTo: jgarzik at pobox.com
ReportedBy: prikrutil at gmail.com
Regression: No
Every time I attach an usb stick, I see some messages like these written to the
errors.log:
Jul 22 17:22:42 myhost kernel: sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write
through
Jul 22 17:22:42 myhost kernel: sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write
through
Jul 22 17:22:42 myhost kernel: sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write
through
According to the http://lists.us.dell.com/fom-serve/cache/110.html this isn't
actually an error, so these messages shouldn't be written to errors.log. But
they are.
It's very annoying to read errors.log flooded by those messages.
I didn't find any mistakes in default syslog-ng.conf (attached) in my system,
so maybe the loglevel for these messages is wrong.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Attach any USB flash. I use Transcend JetFlash V60
http://www.transcendusa.com/Products/ModDetail.asp?ModNo=126&SpNo=1&LangNo=0
2. Look at /var/log/errors.log
