Here's my analysis of the two message passing projects. (Both cut and past=
ed and in attached text file.)

Message Passing
---------------
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D

Reference Projects:
Wronski/Benedyczak - http://www-users.mat.uni.torun.pl/~wrona/posix_ipc
Waetchler - http://homepage.mac.com/pwaechtler/linux/mqueue.tgz

Wronski/Benedyczak
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
Implementation: Implemented as a file system.
License: Distributed under GPL.
Availability: Works against Linux kernels 2.4.20, 2.5.63 or 2.5.64.
Stability: Has stable releases.
Compliance: Passes most POSIX compliance tests at =

http://posixtest.sourceforge.net/testpass/PTS_0_9_0/mq_0_9_0.log.txt
Activity: No discussion on LKML since 2002.

Waechtler
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
License: Distributed under GPL (assume b/c kernel patch).
Availability: Works against Linux kernels 2.4.20, 2.5.50, 2.5.52. =

Appears to be only kernel patch. Wronski/Benedyczak has user library.
Stability: Unsure what release number is.
Compliance: Unsure of POSIX compliance of this patch.
Activity: No discussion on LKML since 2002.

Issues:
- Neither project has submitted a patch to LKML for > 6 months.
- Distro input is unknown whether these would be incorporated.
- Only Wronski/Benedyczak appears to have both kernel and user library.
- Need test results for Waechtler.

**These views are not necessarily those of my employer.**
