The opportunity to have desktop architects from around the globe in a
single meeting is certainly unique and exciting. To make the most of
this meeting, it would be of mutual benefit to crisply define the
outputs of a meeting such as this. From a Desktop Linux (DTL)
perspective, these are the outputs that would be mutually beneficial:

      * Define a set of top focus areas (gaps in technology) which would
allow the desktop market to grow if addressed. Of course, this
will require some level of agreement as to what the inhibitors
REALLY are. Identify those areas that would benefit by
        coordination across desktop organizations.
      * Desktop organizations may need to realign their development
priorities based on market data, usability feedback, deployment
data, and synergy with other desktop orgs.
      * Desktop organizations should leave the meeting with a clear
understanding of inter-org interactions and dependencies.
      * Identify ways of reducing the business risk of adopting Linux on
the desktop (IP issues, licensing, ISV adoption, countering FUD,
        highlighting successes, etc.).
      * Establish an ongoing relationship across desktop organizations
so that the desktop communities can react to changing market
        feedback and priorities.

Feedback/comments? What would provide the most value for your
organization?

Cheers,
