A couple of comments...

The arcane message on a test fail is due to use of tjreport for
analyzing results,  rather than the vsxgen reporting tool (vrpt) that
would put out the assertion text and in many cases the test strategy.
tjreport is more of a summary tool than a report generator.

A link to the specification would be a help. Re: ISPRAS, The Open Group
and IEEE have been supporting this activity through permissions grants
to excerpt copyrighted text from POSIX and the Single UNIX
Specification.
