I know that Gtk/GNOME has been available and supported by the vendor on at
least Solaris and HP-UX in the past. I'm not sure what the current status
is. Maybe as a large ISV that Sun/HP/IBM work with you should ask them if
they support modern toolkits? They probably have little incentive if
there's no demand.

IMO, from a user perspective, I think putting effort towards providing
modern toolkits on aix/hpux/solaris is a better use of time than providing
motif on linux. Ideally aix/hpux/solaris would support the LSB (at least at
the API level if not the ABI level). The LSB standard is organized in a
modular fashion so it would be pretty easy for them to cherry-pick just the
things they wanted if they didn't want to go for full support. (even just
following the FHS would be an easy first start)
