We were working on this earlier this week; I didn't
hear anything more on it after I left to come to
this meeting. It's a bug that was present in
certain versions of alien, and I'm not sure yet
if it was determined where the problem is happening.
The packages in the apt repsitory were converted by
"our" copy of alien - this one is tricky because
the systems that do this conversion are not debian
systems, so of course they don't pick up new
versions via apt-get :-) Last I hear, Jeff was
building a new version of alien from upstream
source to install on the build machines (which
are running suse). I do NOT know if the packages
in the apt repository have been re-converted using
the new alien yet - didn't hear back on that.

Alternatively, if autotest (lying underneath dtk-manager)
is pulling tests directly from the ftp repository,
it's pulling rpms and passing them to the local alien on
your system, then that's the one in question. Ours
has to be fixed in any case, but there's a risk
that people with broken aliens will still get into
trouble no matter what we do on our end.
