OK, this can be simply stated. Make RPM or DPKG the default and accepted 
way on all OSs (Windoze, AIX, Solaris, HPUX, etc.) and you'll have no 
problem convincing ISVs that packaging software in one of these formats 
is the "right" way.

While this utopia project is undertaken by the Don Quixotes of the world 
a practical short term solution would really be helpful.
