I must say as a Python programmer it would be appealing to be able
to import a module 'lsb' or some similar name and have it provide
the answers for me (including if the import fails, I assume the
LSB Python environment is not installed), so I don't have to write
my own config-file parser. Well, okay, Python has a bundle of
config-file parses, but I still have to write some code around it
to make sense of the answers from parsing an lsb-release file).
But as Matthias points out, making that a requirement means then
we're stuck coming up with implementations for every language
I think there's enough here to put something on one of our lists.
