[lsb-discuss] LSB routing capabilities

It seems that LSB doesn't provide any conformant way to read (let alone write) 
routing tables.

netstat and route commands are not included in LSB.  The ip command is absent 
also (I found an article at linuxfoundation.org [1] stating that ifconfig and 
route should be deprecated for ip, by the way).  Reading /proc/net/route may 
be a solution to reading problem but its LSBness is unclear.

As far as i know, sockets, as defined in POSIX, work most deeply on Network 
layer of OSI model.  That's the same layer routing happens at.  So should the 
LSB applications have access to routing table?  And if they should---how?
