Posted Agenda:
=================

  - Quick status re: Marist conversation.
  - C++ work.
  - Idea re: systemd portion.

New business:
=============

Meeting opens at 11:00 with:

Marist -- conf call held ... access to the machine is in
process, but obviously not the highest item on the 'To Do'
list

C++ --- the trade-off is database work and exceptions and
uncovering rocks that point out problems, vs. getting a
validator/parser of Virtual Member structures. The workload
of writing 'yet another' such parser is clearly material, and
replicates prior work. It may be possible graft in an
existing parser with a usable API. If it is a blocker to
getting the LSB 5 candidates to sufficient maturity to
release, the choice on the trade-off of doing manual database
exceptions, and deferring parser work is perhaps obvious

systemd -- Debian has a flame-war going on systemd vs older
init script approaches -- none, init, bsd, SysV -- and the
complaints of its maintainers about not wanting to add 'yet
another'. The remaining desktop oriented Linux distributions
(save Ubuntu) have pretty well locked to a migration to
systemd, and the implied obsolescence of the LSB initscript
header conventions

Jeff wonders if we have anything to offer, perhaps by way of
extending the meta-information which initscript headers offer.
Others in the call point out that the work to do such is not a
'free choice' and for a community which is not stepping up to
offer to perform the engineering work, and to get the
political consensus over on the systemd side, to support such
vestigial matter

Call ends at local 11:50
