Cyberterrorism:&nbs= p; The Next Wave?

Many of the experts seem to think so

On October 16th, President Bush formed a new panel to= fight one of the nation=FFFFFF92s most serious terrorist threats: c= yberterrorism.  Noting that the nation's information systems are vital to business, government and national defense, a new cabinet was qui= ckly formed to prevent the possibility of such attacks.

<= i style=3D"mso-bidi-font-style:normal">"The threats are extensive and serious," said Terry Benzel= , vice president of advanced security research at Santa Clara, Calif.-based Network Associates. "A cyberthreat taken= in conjunction with a physical threat of terrorism as we witn= essed is beyond frightening," she said.

Tonight we present to you a company with the know-how and experien= ce to be of major significance in the fight against cyber-terror= ism. This is a company with impressive relationships (i.e. its biggest client is NATO= ), various endorsements, and nat= ional press coverage

All for

Remarkable Cybersecurity Products

Quickly adding to PLRP=FFFFFF92s p= ortfolio of groundbreaking cyber-security products is e-Centurion.  This new product is in the final stages of production= and will soon be available on Amazon.com as well as the company website.  E-Ce= nturion has been so remarkably effective to the extent that e-Centur= ion has destroyed new v= iruses that the software wasn=FFFFFF92t even aware of!  Read this excerpt from a recent press release below.<= br>

 Are They Safe?

<= br> More and more children are making the Internet a part of the= ir everyday lives. If you are a parent, you are probably concerned about the co= ntent of the material your children view on the Internet. Pacel Corporation (OTCBB:= PLRP) has developed a key remedy to this issue. Pacel=FFFFFF92s Ch= ildwatch=FFFFFF99 software is sold for just $29.99 .

P= LRP=FFFFFF92s advanced child-protection software has won PLRP a strategic alliance with Earthlink (NASDAQ: ELNK), one of the nation=FFFFFF92s leading ISP=FFFF= FF92s. Earthlink is offering three free months of internet service to anyone = who buys the Childwatch=FFFFFF99 software.  Because the ChildWatch technology uses human reviewer= s and objective standards to block inappropriate websites, it is n= ot subject to the inaccuracies that have caused extensive criti= cism of other content filters.&= nbsp; This has opened up the door to a unique opportunity that gives parents complete access and control over the computer and internet activi= ties of their children.

CNN=FFFFFF92s Larry= King has also endorsed Pacel=FFFFFF92s efforts by joining the Nationa= l Child Watch Zone Celebrity Committee, an organization led by PLRP. This socially responsible product has caugh= t the attention of many school districts and public
institutions (i.e. libraries) in hopes of filtering harmful material from young children.

Addit= ional Highlights

  • NATO has trusted Pacel=FF= FFFF92s UK subsidiary, Fairfax Communications Limited, with numerou= s orders for the use of their programs. PLRP's relationship with NATO is growing, as t= he company will expand its range of services to NATO through the presence of its recently acquired ADVANTAGE SYSTEMS, INC.

  • PLRP was featured in an exclusive Washington Post article earlier this summer. = Read this article by clicking  here

With rapidly increasing controversy for children=FFFFFF92s Internet security, a major al= liance with Earthlink, and the trust of NATO, Pacel Corporation is certainly= worth that second look, presenting the speculative investor with an incredible growth opportunity.

At such a low pr= ice of less than half a penny per share, PLRP is certainly worth a clos= er look.

Though if you want to list them somewhere, .rodata.* might be more appropriate. It is actually .rodata.strM.N where M is size of character in the string and N is alignment in bytes, so e.g. for L"abc" it might as well be .rodata.str4.4 .rodata.cstN is for fixed size readonly constants N bytes in size (and aligned to the same size). BTW: more and more such sections will be added as times goes, but must of them are in relocatable objects only. Shouldn't LSB just speak about sections present in ET_EXEC/ET_DYN objects? E.g. there will probably be .data.rel, .data.rel.ro and .data.rel.ro.local sections soon. > > .rel.dyn > > Well, this is from digital unix, section 9.3.5 of the Assembly > Language Programmer's Guide: > > The dynamic relocation section describes all locations within the > object that must be adjusted if the object is loaded at an address > other than its linked base address. This might be worth mentioning perhaps (but note that there is .rela.dyn on most arches). This is basically .rel.bss, .rel.data, .rel.text and all other SHF_ALLOC .rel.* sections but .rel.plt. The reason all of them are in one section is that the relocs can be sorted to allow symbol lookup caching in the dynamic linker (see -z combreloc linker option). 23:12:39 +0100 Subject: Common Menu System (was: PROPOSAL: a common menu system) Message-ID: <3BFD7856.BABD73AF@net-b.de> Hi, I'd like to know if there had been any conclusions drawn by the discussion done in May last year: -> http://lists.debian.org/lsb-spec/2000/lsb-spec-200005/msg00055.html I think we still need such a menu system which should be defined in LSB. I think we have still the two systems: - Debian Menu (http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/menu.html/) - .desktop file (http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/desktop-entry-spec/desktop-entry-spec.html) LSB should define the a) location of the files b) the format (desktop-entry-spec looks good and is X-tenable) c) the tool to be called after something has changed to regernerate the menu files for the WM d) optional: The default categories for the WM, this would be a nice starter, but it is not necessary (makes localisation easier) For me (I've to admit to come from SuSELinux/KDE and just started building debs) the .desktop system seems to be better suited, but this is personal taste. As a system administrator and ISV I'd really like to have only one powerful system instead of $n$ (or two). The .desktop presently supports almost everything needed/present in the debian menu system, maybe with these exeptions: - needs=text|X11|vc|vm (text: runs in console, X11:program, vc runs only in console,wm:this starts another windowmanager). This is a bit more advanced than "Terminal"(bool) in .desktop - Fvwm hooks (more fvwm specific thus more powerful) Proposals for enhancement of the file: - Implementing the needs system the "wm" part is interesting, (the X11 vs text is equivalent to Terminal) - Exclusion/Inclusion of WM (partly supported by susewm) - UID tag - ? Show this entry only when root (based on name since the uids are not defined in LSB) - Needs su or root: Add a program to su before executing (kdesu, xterm -c 'su ...', etc.) With warm regards and the hope that we finally get some (one!) standard, Tobias -- This above all: To thine own self be true / And it must follow as the night the day / Thou canst not then be false to any man. From aj@azure.humbug.org.au Thu Nov 29 07:28:26 2001 From: aj@azure.humbug.org.au (Anthony Towns) Date: Thu, 29 Nov 2001 17:28:26 +1000 Subject: Example LSB packages... Message-ID: <20011129172825.A17794@azure.humbug.org.au> Hi Guys, Are there any example LSB packages around yet? Poking around on the linuxbase website, I came across: ftp://ftp.freestandards.org/pub/lsb/lsbdev/examples/rsync-2.4.6-1.i386.rpm which seems like it could be intended to be an example LSB compliant package, but I figured it couldn't possibly be because it was a ".rpm" instead of a ".lsb". Then I looked through the spec, and could only find something saying that LSB packages should begin with "lsb-" and nothing that said they should end with ".lsb". What's up with that? Surely the LSB isn't creating yet another sort of ".rpm" to confuse everyone? (And if the rsync rpm is meant to be an example of lsbdev, then it probably should be lsb-rsync, no matter what else. If it _is_ an example (Heaven's and Chris be praised! :) any chance of another simple example that includes a daemon (lsb-boa perhaps)? That'd probably let people (finally) get around to actually implementing it on non-RPM systems in a reliable manner.) Cheers, aj -- Anthony Towns I don't speak for anyone save myself. The rsync rpm is intended to be an example of an LSB compliant package/application (I also did byacc first as it was simpler, not sure where that has disappeared to). Yes I agree, checking with the spec they should be prefixed with lsb- - an error on my part. The rpm was compiled using lsbdev (though an earlier version than the current release) and linked against the stub libraries. It wasn't compiled against the LSB produced header files, though it does pass lsbappchk. Its probably not too late to add a requirement for the 1.1 update that LSB packages be suffixed with .lsb - comments anyone? > probably should be lsb-rsync, no matter what else. Hey, rsync can run as a daemon too :-) There are some other people working on producing example LSB compliant packages so you should see some more examples coming out in the next few weeks.

PLRP=FFFFFF92s ability to foresee the latest standards in Internet Security= makes it a viable player in the nation=FFFFFF92s fight against cyb= erterrorism.

Addit= ional Highlights
