Permit me to share an exhibit from my "Packaging Hall of Shame".

WARNING: DO NOT RUN THIS LINE OF SCRIPT UNLESS YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF
	/var/lib/rpm

An important online retailer tried to reduce install spewage by
installing a package in an install script wrapper that looked like this:

	rpm -Uvh package*.rpm >&-

Somehow the retailer's bottom line seems unaffected by their
attempts to use rpm to install packages. Mirabile dictu.
