All,

There is a growing desire among the FSG/OpenPrinting-US and
FSG/OpenPrinting-European members to follow, understand and contribute to
the activities of the FSG/OpenPrinting-Japan. Therefore, I have been asked
to send this message requesting that English be adopted as the international
language for all discussions of FSG/OpenPrinting API's and specifications;
including those being developed in Japan. All existing printing standards
bodies have and continue to use English as the common language. It is also
believed that since the normal practice is to use English for these type of
activities, that FSG/OpenPrinting activities, overall, would appear to be
more professional to the parent FSG group and other standards bodies if will
use English as the common language.

Although FSG/OpenPrinting-US and FSG/OpenPrinting-European members
understand some need for Japanese communication, the current policy of
Japanese-only greatly restrict contribution to and by related
FSG/OpenPrinting API/specifications and the overall architecture. It also
greatly reduces contribution by non- FSG/OpenPrinting members.
